I had run into dead ends in my search for my ancestors from Puerto Rico until I found Puerto Rico Archives. Since the early 1980's I have been researching my family history. In 20o8 I decided to write a book detailing the data that I had accumulated, so that I could share it with all interested family members. I have been researching my roots for several years but reached a dead end because the U.S. census in Puerto Rico only began in the 1900's. Then I came upon this service while searching online. What a find! It helped me trace my ancestry back to Spain and taught me things that I never knew and led me to relatives I didn't know I had. While I have come across one or two genealogy sites related to Puerto Rico, most of them just give you tips on how to go through the time consuming process of requesting records. This site offers educational information, but so much more in terms of access to high quality documents. In my current research I peek at other websites now and then, but this is the one that I keep coming back to because of the richness of information that I have not found anywhere else. I am very thankful for the service.

I will start by saying for 4 years I searched hi & low for information on my maternal ancestor.   I had very few documents & mostly oral history of a family of which I had only met 10 members over 40 years.  I  was starting to doubt my own family and wanted to just give up, until I ask for help from this service and suddenly I had real ancestors!!  My Ma was right!
